Task Oriented Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for field supervision of all construction work of all technical disciplines on assigned projects including but not limited to civil, structural, force protection, electrical, carpentry, framing, plumbing, HVAC, Roofing, finish work and others as projects require.
  • Ensures that all construction is compliant with applicable contractual requirements, building codes and other standards as well as permitting and inspection processes.
  • Determines construction means and methods as appropriate.
  • Reviews Subcontractor, Vendor and Teaming partner submittals for thorough information and for missing or incomplete information key to the project prior to submitting to Architect or Client for Approval.
  • Develops, updates and maintains project schedules in close coordination with the project team.
  • Manages assigned projects in field from mobilization to closeout and handover including commissioning.
  • Manages sub-contractors and others to move jobs to completion on schedule and in compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Directly responsible for project progress, tracking labor hours, material quantities, RFIs, submittals, safety, quality and monitoring schedule to avoid slippage.
  • Identifies and determines labor requirements for work to be self-performed and forecasts accordingly to ensure timely completion.
  • Develops and maintains close working relationship with client’s on-site representative throughout project execution phase.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all project staff and subcontractors are compliant with USACE quality and safety requirements.
  • Responsible for preparation of all contractually and internally required documentation including but not limited to daily reports, quality reports, safety reports, RFIs, and others as may be required.
  • Evaluates data from tracking logs against necessary start dates of work to determine schedule adherence and potential need for acceleration of work or expediting of materials.
  • Provides leadership, mentoring and technical direction to project labor forces and subcontractors.
  • Closely monitors and responds to potential schedule slippage to avert impact to delivery, this includes maintaining a close presence with staff, subcontractors, vendors and teaming partners regarding fabrication and delivery lead times.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of the plans and specifications for each project assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in construction Related Discipline preferred but not required. Comparable experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 5 plus years of related experience as a Construction Superintendent working on projects for federal and local public agencies.
  • Must maintain at minimum - OSHA 30-hour certification, First Aid/CPR Training.
  • Must have or be able to acquire USACE Quality Control Management (QCM) Certification, ECATTs, Antiterrorism Training Certification, Operations Security (OPSEC) Training Certification, and all relevant Procore and Other Training Certifications required to function at USACE, VA, U of I, GSA, City of Chicago, NAVFAC, Air Force
