Job Description

The Bourbon Butler at The Trail Hotel serves as the ultimate concierge for guests, creating one-of-a-kind, seamless experiences both onsite and offsite. This role bridges the gap between local distilleries, farms, restaurants, and businesses, while ensuring each guest discovers the best Bardstown and Louisville have to offer. From coordinating exclusive VIP tours to leading bourbon education for staff, the Bourbon Butler curates exceptional service tailored to each guests and team member’s needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Guest Experience Coordination:

  • Act as a personal concierge for all aspects of guest itineraries:
  • VIP Distillery Tours: Schedule exclusive visits to our partnered distilleries.
  • Farm, Brewery, and Winery Excursions: Coordinate private farm tours, tastings, and brewery/vineyard experiences.
  • Dining and Events: Arrange reservations at local restaurants, music and sports events, or gambling venues.
  • Custom Experiences: Offer unique tastings, access to private barrel selections, and bespoke excursions.
  • Manage logistics: Ensure travel times, durations, and transitions between experiences are seamless and well-timed.
  • Onsite Tastings and Dinners: Assist in curating personalized tasting events and private dinners, including partnerships with master distillers and chefs.
  • Serve as the point of contact for all guest food, beverage, and travel needs, delivering a start-to-finish luxury experience.

Community Partnerships and Relationship Building:

  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with:
  • Local distilleries, restaurants, farms, bakeries, wineries, breweries, and coffee shops.
  • Entertainment venues including music, sports, and gaming establishments.
  • Regularly network with the Bardstown and Louisville business community to develop exclusive access opportunities for guests.
  • Promote The Trail Hotel’s partnerships, ensuring guests receive premium experiences that highlight the area’s unique culture and offerings.

Bourbon and Hospitality Education:

  • Provide daily pre-shift bourbon education for hotel and restaurant staff.
  • Lead monthly in-depth bourbon and hospitality trainings for the team to enhance product knowledge and guest service.
  • Organize team tours and "mash stages" at local distilleries to immerse staff in Bardstown’s bourbon culture.

Onsite Specialty Tastings and Retail Management:

  • Assist in curating and executing specialty onsite tastings and dinners with master distillers and winemakers.
  • Collaborate with the retail team to manage access to limited-release bourbon and wine products.
  • Oversee property maps and guides, ensuring guests can easily navigate Bardstown’s key attractions.

Team Oversight and Support:

  • Lead the Concierge Team, Assist with Tastings in Retail, & Bourbon Butler Check-ins , ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and exceptional service standards.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to deliver luxury experiences tailored to individual guest preferences.

Sales & Marketing Assistance

  • Collaborate with the Sales & Marketing team to plan, coordinate, and execute:
  • Onsite bourbon tastings, specialty dinners, and large-scale hotel events.
  • Offsite events, such as distillery partnerships, VIP tastings, and corporate gatherings.

Assist with group sales bookings by curating custom bourbon-centric experiences for large groups, including tours, dining, and entertainment.

  • Support marketing initiatives by identifying opportunities for partnerships and unique guest experiences that enhance The Trail Hotel’s brand.
  • Ensure seamless coordination of reservations and event logistics between Sales, Marketing, and operational teams.

Requirements:

  • Deep knowledge of bourbon, including history, distillation processes, tasting profiles, and current industry trends.
  • Previous experience in high-end hospitality, concierge services, or luxury guest experience roles.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain business relationships with local partners.
  • Strong understanding of Bardstown and Louisville attractions, including distilleries, dining, and entertainment.
  • Ability to multitask, coordinate logistics, and manage complex itineraries under tight deadlines.
  • Leadership experience overseeing teams in a hospitality setting.
  • Passion for providing personalized, memorable guest experiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in bourbon-related education (e.g., Executive Bourbon Steward).
  • Previous experience curating VIP guest tours and experiences.
  • Background in luxury hotels, fine dining, or experiential tourism.
