Job Description

The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and implementation of mechanical systems within a project, ensuring it meets specifications, deadlines, and quality standards by coordinating with various teams, conducting site assessments, and managing the installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical equipment, while adhering to safety regulations and budget constraints.

Key responsibilities of a mechanical project engineer:

Project planning and design:

  • Analyze project requirements and develop detailed mechanical design plans, including component selection, system layouts, and calculations.
  • Create 3D models and drawings using CAD software to visualize the design.
  • Conduct feasibility studies to assess project viability and identify potential challenges.
  • Estimate project costs, timelines, and resource needs.

Technical coordination:

  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (electrical, structural) to ensure system integration.
  • Communicate design specifications to vendors and suppliers to procure necessary equipment.
  • Manage technical documentation and project reports.

Site management and installation:

  • Conduct site visits to verify project requirements and identify potential issues.
  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Coordinate with contractors and installation teams to ensure timely project execution.

Testing and quality control:

  • Develop and execute test procedures to verify system performance and functionality.
  • Identify and address any quality issues during installation and testing phases.
  • Monitor project progress against established quality standards.

Client communication:

  • Regularly update clients on project status, addressing concerns and managing expectations.
  • Collaborate with clients to resolve technical issues and ensure project deliverables meet their needs.

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
  • Project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage budgets
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Experience with relevant industry standards and safety regulations

Preferred knowledge and/or experience within - Mechanical, HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection systems providers, or Engineering consulting firms
