Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Perform laboratory testing and report results for all products assigned to Houston Applications Laboratory from chemical plants/customers. Provide innovative ideas to improve lab processes and demonstrate continuous improvement. Support laboratory Health, Quality, Safety and Environmental initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Perform testing procedures according to current SOPs
  • Process data and report final results to Senior Lab Tech/Manager
  • Ensure the suitability of laboratory equipment through proper operation, maintenance, calibration, verification and good quality control and assessment activities
  • Interpret and follow all QC and laboratory documented procedures
  • Maintain a clean working environment
  • Know, understand and use software tools such as Microsoft Office Programs
  • Must be willing to work in a team-oriented atmosphere
  • Perform general laboratory housekeeping and safety inspections to ensure compliance with governmental regulations regarding proper hazard waste management and testing
  • Comply with laboratory Health, Safety and Environmental rules and policies
  • Promote safety of self and coworkers by participation in the site safety programs.
  • Support Plant and Company goals and objectives
  • The above list is not exhaustive and you may be required to perform reasonable additional duties at the request of the Senior Lab Tech/Manager

WORK EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • 2 years college chemistry or AS degree in chemistry or 2 years chemical laboratory work experience
  • BS degree in chemistry preferred
  • Chemical EOR testing/screening experience is preferred
  • Flow loop run experience is preferred

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Aptitude to successfully use computer software such as Excel and job specific calculations and functions.
  • Self-motivated with a demonstrated high level of consistent approach to team working ethics
  • Focused on detail, able to work autonomously and closely follow procedures
