Job Description
The role of the intermodal dispatcher/customer service representative is to manage the freight for a specific customer base within a team environment. This is accomplished by gaining an understanding of customer requirements as well as developing relationships with our network of carriers, while maintaining an open line of communication with the customer.
Job Responsibilities
· Communicate with customers, railroads, and trucking companies to schedule pick-ups and deliveries of containers and trailers
· Track movement of containers to ensure on-time pick-up and delivery
· Resolve any service issues by clarifying the customer’s requirements, determining the cause of the problem, choosing and communicating the best solution to resolve the problem, and following up to ensure resolution
· Prepare reports by collecting and analyzing customer/carrier information
· Hourly position. Overtime when required.
· Office hours 7:30 to 4:30 Mon-Fri.
Qualifications
· Excellent communication and customer service skills
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
· Ability to self-motivate and multi-task
· Previous transportation experience preferred
· Experience with per diem management preferred
· Experience with rail/drayage operations preferred
