Job Description

Position Summary:

The Supply Chain Manager oversees global sourcing/procurement, inventory management, and production planning to ensure a timely and cost-effective supply of materials for production. Leads the purchasing department and collaborates cross-functionally to align material availability with production schedules, support cost control initiatives, and uphold quality standards.

Primary Functions:

  • Source materials, negotiate with suppliers, manage supplier performance, and ensure compliance with quality and delivery standards.
  • Implement supplier strategies that encompass supplier assessments and onboarding; supplier optimization; and best cost.
  • Optimize stock levels, conduct inventory audits, and coordinate with warehouse for proper handling/storage. Establishes inventory objectives and assumes responsibility for inventory turns (stock rotation).
  • Align material availability with production schedules and monitor usage to avoid shortages/overstocking.
  • Manage vendor and part data within the ERP system. Support capacity planning and scheduling activities.
  • Track and manage material costs, drive cost-saving initiatives, and reduce waste. Accountable for supplier and commodity spend management and productivity generation, execution and tracking.
  • Ensure incoming materials meet specifications; collaborate with QC and evaluate supplier quality through the implementation of supplier scorecards.
  • Manage buyer/planner team, set performance expectations, and provide development opportunities.
  • Enhance material management processes, stay current with industry best practices, and support strategic sourcing initiatives. Initiatives include lead time reduction, order quantity reduction, and payment terms extension.
  • Actively support and serve as PM for new product launches, while serving as primary liaison to the supply base.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in materials management, procurement, or supply chain roles. Experience sourcing machined or manufactured metal components, plastics, or importing finished goods is preferred.
  • Production planning and scheduling experience required
  • Lean manufacturing principles/experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Certifications such as APICS, CPIM, or CSCP are a plus.
  • Approximately 20% global travel may be required
  • Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job such as:
  • Safely navigating a manufacturing environment
  • Extended periods of sitting; occasional standing, walking, bending and lifting
  • Using computer and office equipment
