Job Description

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with an industry leader in innovative drive systems to fill a direct hire Service Manager position. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with a strong background in diesel engine service, repair, and team management. The organization supports critical sectors such as construction, agriculture, material handling, and transport—developing, distributing, and servicing high-performance diesel, gas, and electric drive systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage shop and field service operations; oversee scheduling, quoting, invoicing, and customer interaction.
  • Supervise and evaluate field technicians using KPIs, service tools, and training feedback.
  • Oversee engine testing, inspections, and failure analysis (including dynamometer testing).
  • Coordinate procurement of parts and maintain specialty tooling and shop inventory.
  • Collaborate with sales and project teams on value-added modifications to engine packages.
  • Provide technical support and training to distributors, dealers, and end users.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives in layout, workflow, and safety compliance.
  • Handle administrative duties including service reports, expense documentation, and field activity logs.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of management experience in a mechanical or diesel service setting
  • 5+ years of hands-on diesel engine service experience
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and understanding of diesel fuel systems
  • Proficient with 12- and 24-volt electrical systems
  • Ability to operate forklifts, cranes, and standard mechanical tools

Preferred:

  • Experience with SAP, MS Office Suite, and service software like Field Aware
  • Completion of manufacturer-based engine training (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience managing both shop and field-based service teams

Travel:

  • Occasional domestic and international travel (approx. 10–25%) may be required based on business needs.

Work Environment:

  • Combination of shop, warehouse, and office environments
  • Exposure to engine noise, chemicals, and mechanical equipment
  • Must be comfortable with physical activity, including lifting and standing for extended periods
