General Information:
Position Title: Fellowship Kids Pastor
Reports to: Discipleship Pastor
Positions Reporting to: Elementary Curriculum, Worship & Route 45 Coordinator
Position Summary:
The Fellowship Kids Pastor will pastor, lead, manage and hold accountable a staff and volunteer team to meaningfully engage in the work of leading children and families to know and follow Jesus in a fun, safe, caring environment. This person will lead all ministry opportunities, especially the weekly Sunday morning gathering, and childcare opportunities so that Children’s Ministry runs safely, smoothly, and effectively. The Fellowship Kids Pastor will partner with parents to lead children into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. They will ensure that all volunteers and staff are challenged and cared for by this ministry.
Leadership
•Prays faithfully for FK staff, parents, children and FK volunteer team
•Provide leadership and supervision of Fellowship Kids Staff and Volunteer Teams
•Communicate the role of children’s ministry in the vision and values of Fellowship Dallas in a meaningful way to the volunteers and families of this ministry
•Provide leadership of regular team meetings and Ministry Leadership Team meetings.
•Represent Fellowship Kids in meetings, at functions and other events
•Meet with the Family Life Team regularly to assure that we are partnering strategically and with unity from birth to graduation
•Meet regularly with supervisor to discuss ministry goals, objectives, challenges, needs, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats, etc.
•Develop the ministry calendar and manage the budget for the children’s ministry in partnership with the overall church mission and annual objectives
•Leads and Directs Sunday Morning Kids Experiences.
Ministry Oversite & Direction
•Implementation quality, age appropriate and biblically based curriculum. Ensuring that it is beneficial for building of discipleship relationships, faith skills and growth
•Oversee a safe and healthy ministry environment each Sunday morning that allows for children to be engaged in large and small group experiences that will provide opportunities to come to know and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ
•Recruiting, onboarding, training, encouraging and scheduling of volunteers to accomplish ministry goals and objectives.
•Ensure all volunteers are in compliance with background checks and Ministry Safe training.
•Coordinate with other ministries of the church in providing childcare for church events and studies.
•Recruit, schedule and train all paid childcare staff.
•Successfully assimilate new families and children into Fellowship Kids and the church in partnership with our Connecting Ministry
•Develop and oversee engaging Children’s programming for all strategic family & all church events designed to build community and invite our neighbors (i.e. MOPS, worship nights, Wednesday nights, missions conference, etc.)
•Works with the Creative Director to ensure quality, effective and strategic communications, including website, digital and print, signage, etc.
Pastoral
•Engages parents with the vision to actively take the lead in the discipleship of their children and provides resources and support through ministry and personal engagement. (Open House, At Home Resources, personal meetings)
•Ensure that all volunteers in Children’s Ministry are engaged in serving in their giftedness, prayed for and encouraged
•Engage families starting with Parent Dedication providing relationship, a connection to the ministry, church, prayer and equipping for this journey.
•Confirm children for baptism:
•Meet with parents, children and volunteers regarding life circumstances (divorce, emotional issues, children’s questions, behaviors or other issues of development and culture)
•Perform communion, baptism and other ministerial duties as needed.
Qualifications
•Church Membership: Be a committed follower of Jesus Christ and an active covenant member at Fellowship Dallas, aligned with and supportive of the church’s doctrine, mission, vision, and values.
•Values: Lives the values of Love First, Radiate Jesus, Be Transformed, We Not Me and Own It and imparts them to leaders in Kids Ministry.
•Education: Graduate of an accredited college or university. Theological training preferred.
•Experience: Proven leadership experience required in ministry with families and children.
•Communication: Excellent teaching and interpersonal skills.
•Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with church staff, volunteers, and parents.
•Teachable: Possess a humble attitude before God, colleagues, families and volunteer leaders.
•Discipleship: Passion and gifting to guide leaders, children and parents in their spiritual journey.
•Creativity: Innovative and adaptable approach to meet the evolving needs of today’s families.
•Leadership: Demonstrated organizational and leadership abilities.
Time Requirements: Full-time role; 40 hour per week minimum; Sunday through Thursday work week.
