Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all domestic procurement operations for U.S.-based suppliers and manufacturers, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery of materials and components.
  • Develop and manage vendor relationships across the U.S. furniture and component supply chain—wood, metal, plastics, hardware, packaging, etc.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, lead times, and contracts with vendors; analyze costs and implement cost-reduction strategies.
  • Collaborate with product development and operations teams to ensure sourcing aligns with design specs and production needs.
  • Monitor supplier performance (quality, delivery, responsiveness) and implement corrective actions when needed.
  • Forecast demand and plan inventory purchases accordingly to meet customer needs while minimizing overstock.
  • Implement procurement best practices , systems, and documentation for transparency, auditability, and scalability.
  • Stay current with industry trends, U.S. manufacturing capabilities, and market pricing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. MBA or APICS/ISM certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of procurement experience focused on U.S.-based suppliers , preferably in furniture, office products, or manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with Steelcase-style procurement standards or equivalent industry leaders preferred.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and vendor management skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, or similar).
  • Understanding of U.S. manufacturing, quality standards, and logistics.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
