Job Summary:

The Production Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the cement production process, ensuring efficient and effective production while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Management :

Plan, organize, and oversee the cement production process from raw material handling to final product dispatch.

Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demand while optimizing resources and minimizing costs.

Monitor production metrics and adjust processes to ensure efficiency and product quality.

Team Leadership :

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of production staff, including operators, technicians, and supervisors.

Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback and training opportunities.

Quality Control :

Ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications throughout the production process.

Implement and maintain quality control procedures and troubleshoot any issues that arise.

Coordinate with the Quality Assurance department to address any non-conformities and implement corrective actions.

Health and Safety :

Promote and enforce a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations.

Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.

Lead incident investigations and develop strategies to prevent recurrence.

Partner with safety to promote NCC policy and MSHA regulation compliance.

Process Improvement :

Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements.

Implement lean manufacturing principles and other best practices.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives and track their impact on production performance.

Budget and Cost Management :

Develop and manage the production budget, including labor, materials, and maintenance costs.

Monitor and control production expenses to achieve financial targets.

Collaborate with the procurement department to ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of raw materials and supplies.

Audit and approve e-time for hourly employees on a daily and weekly basis

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a production management role within the cement or a related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of cement production processes, equipment, and technologies.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong understanding of quality control principles and health and safety regulations.
  • Proficient in using production management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certification in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.
  • Experience with automated production systems and advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability practices in the cement industry.

Working Conditions:

  • This role involves working in both office and plant environments.
  • May require occasional travel to other company locations or for training purposes.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as necessary to meet production demands.

finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee may at times be required to walk on rocky, irregular surfaces that may be muddy and in reduced lighting conditions. The employee is often required to sit. The employee may at times be required lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50+ pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
