Medical Coding Supervisor

Location: Oklahoma City, OK

Employment Type: Full-Time/Direct Hire

Salary: $60,000/year 

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8-4:30

Trinity Employment Specialists is seeking a PBS Supervisor - Coding to join our client's healthcare team! This role is ideal for a motivated leader with strong expertise in medical coding, revenue cycle management, and team supervision. Position Overview:

As the PBS Supervisor - Coding, you will work under the direction of the Revenue Cycle Manager to oversee the Patient Business Service Coding team. Your leadership will be instrumental in maintaining efficiency, ensuring compliance, and driving performance within the revenue cycle process. This position requires strong collaboration with internal teams and external partners to uphold standards of quality and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise & Support the Team – Lead, mentor, and evaluate PBS team members; handle hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Ensure Revenue Cycle Success – Monitor KPIs, coach staff, and implement strategies to optimize performance.
  • Compliance & Education – Provide guidance on HCPCS, ICD-10, CPT updates and payer trends to ensure regulatory adherence.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration – Work with EMSA leadership and external PBS contractors to address coding, documentation, and revenue concerns.
  • Process Improvement – Analyze daily reports, identify trends, and support ongoing efficiency enhancements.
  • Customer & Patient Experience – Ensure professional communication and high service standards.
  • Problem-Solving – Quickly identify and resolve challenges, while maintaining a proactive and solutions-focused approach.

What You Bring to the Role:

  • Leadership Skills – Strong ability to supervise, coach, and develop team members.
  • Technical Expertise – In-depth knowledge of healthcare billing, HCPCS/CPT, ICD coding guidelines.
  • Detail-Oriented & Organized – Capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Tech-Savvy – Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
  • Team Player – Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.

Qualifications:

  • Certification Required: CPC, AHIMA, or equivalent coding certification.
  • Experience: Minimum 4 years in medical coding, revenue cycle, or a related field.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of healthcare compliance, health information laws, and payer regulations.
  • Driver’s License: Must have a valid driver’s license (if applicable).

* Compile, process, and maintain medical records of hospital and clinic patients in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements of the healthcare system. Classify medical and healthcare concepts, including diagnosis, procedures, medical services, and equipment, into the healthcare industry's numerical coding system. Includes medical coders.
* Assign the patient to diagnosis-related groups (DRGs), using appropriate computer software.
* Compile and maintain patients' medical records to document condition and treatment and to provide data for research or cost control and care improvement efforts.
* Consult classification manuals to locate information about disease processes.
* Enter data, such as demographic characteristics, history and extent of disease, diagnostic procedures, or treatment into computer.
* Identify, compile, abstract, and code patient data, using standard classification systems.
* Maintain or operate a variety of health record indexes or storage and retrieval systems to collect, classify, store, or analyze information.
* Post medical insurance billings.
* Process and prepare business or government forms.
* Process patient admission or discharge documents.
* Protect the security of medical records to ensure that confidentiality is maintained.
* Release information to persons or agencies according to regulations.
* Resolve or clarify codes or diagnoses with conflicting, missing, or unclear information by consulting with doctors or others or by participating in the coding team's regular meetings.
* Retrieve patient medical records for physicians, technicians, or other medical personnel.
* Review records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulations.
* Scan patients' health records into electronic formats.
* Schedule medical appointments for patients.
* Transcribe medical reports.
