Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Industrial Engineer to join our client in a 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) Distribution Center environment, with a primary focus on driving continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in Lean Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt or higher) and deep understanding of warehouse operations to enhance efficiency, optimize processes, and improve key performance indicators (KPIs). This role will involve hands-on work in inventory management, process improvement, and general industrial engineering tasks within a fast-paced distribution center environment. Key Responsibilities: Lead continuous improvement projects using Lean Six Sigma principles to eliminate waste, reduce variability, and improve operational efficiency. Analyze warehouse workflows, layouts, and processes to identify bottlenecks and implement data-driven solutions. Develop and monitor KPIs related to productivity, accuracy, throughput, and cost efficiency, providing actionable insights to management. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement process improvements in picking, packing, shipping, and inventory management. Conduct time studies, work measurement, and capacity analysis to optimize labor and resource utilization. Support inventory management initiatives, ensuring accuracy, cycle counting, and stock optimization align with operational goals. Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to sustain improvements and ensure consistency across shifts. Utilize industrial engineering tools and software to model, simulate, and improve distribution center operations. Train and mentor team members on Lean Six Sigma concepts and continuous improvement techniques. Partner with leadership to align improvement efforts with broader business objectives and customer requirements. Qualifications: ~ Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. ~ Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification required; Black Belt preferred. ~3+ years of experience in a warehouse or distribution center environment, with a focus on process improvement and industrial engineering. ~ Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, including inventory management, material flow, and order fulfillment processes. ~ Proven track record of successfully implementing continuous improvement projects and achieving measurable KPI improvements. ~ Proficiency in data analysis and tools such as Excel, Minitab, or similar software; experience with WMS (Warehouse Management Systems). ~ Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. ~ Strong communication and collaboration skills to engage with team members at all levels. ~ Willingness to relocate – relocation assistance provided. Some travel may be required to support other DCs from time to time. Preferred Skills: Experience in a 3PL distribution center or similar logistics setting required. Manufacturing is not a fit. Familiarity with automation technologies and their integration into warehouse operations.
