Facilities Assistant – Full-Time – Portland, ME

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.74 - $25.00 per hour

Expected Hours: 40 per week

One of our partner organizations, a leader in their industry with a vibrant global headquarters in Portland, Maine , is hiring a reliable, proactive, and mechanically inclined Facilities Assistant to join their onsite team.

In this role, you won’t just maintain the building—you’ll help power the entire operation. By spotting issues early, you’ll help keep essential systems running smoothly. Whether you're preparing spaces for key events or ensuring daily operations stay on track, your work will make a meaningful impact every day.

What You’ll Do

Facilities Assistant Responsibilities

  • Keep things running: Spot problems early and call in the right help when mechanical, electrical, or plumbing issues come up.
  • Prioritize safety: Monitor fire safety and security systems and promptly report or escalate any issues to the appropriate contacts.
  • Support cleanliness: Assist with general cleaning and janitorial duties when needed
  • Be on call: Provide 24/7 support for urgent facility-related concerns

Event Setup & Support

  • Set the stage: Assemble and break down tables, chairs, staging, and AV equipment for internal events
  • Be a team player: Coordinate lighting, sound, and setup logistics
  • Keep it moving: Restore spaces promptly after events

Teamwork & Operations

  • Stay organized: Manage tools, supplies, and maintenance equipment
  • Work together: Collaborate with internal departments, vendors, and support teams
  • Follow protocols: Ensure all work complies with safety standards
  • Respond fast: Address facility requests and urgent issues in a timely manner

What You’ll Bring

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in facility maintenance, building operations, or general repairs
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks throughout the shift
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed
  • A self-starter mindset with strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work indoors and outdoors
