Engineering Intern – Rumor

Location: Remote / Los Angeles / New York (Preferred)

Type: Full-Time/Part-Time, Unpaid

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the engineering team in developing and maintaining scalable backend systems and services to support core platform functionality.
  • Work closely with frontend developers to ensure seamless integration of the frontend and backend parts of the application, providing a robust API that meets our application's needs.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers to ensure seamless translation of visual designs into functional web components.
  • Learn and apply responsive design principles to optimize user experience across devices and screen sizes.
  • Participate in coding and debugging tasks while adhering to established best practices and code standards.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and trends in frontend and backend development, bringing fresh perspectives to the team.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with modern frontend technologies, including JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Vue.js, Angular), HTML5, CSS3, and preprocessors like SASS or LESS.
  • Fundamental understanding of server-side programming using Node.js, Python, or similar languages.
  • Exposure to responsive design principles and cross-browser compatibility issues.
  • Interest in learning about RESTful APIs, asynchronous request handling, and AJAX.
  • Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive attitude towards learning.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate in a dynamic team environment.
  • Knowledge of Golang and TypeScript, or hands-on experience through personal projects, coursework, or internships in these technologies is a big plus.
