The i2Systems team designs and builds advanced lighting modules concentrating on wellness, energy efficiency, and high-quality illumination of North America’s premier spaces.

What to Expect:

The Electronics Technician – Engineering Lab supports product development activities through hands-on technical work in an advanced electronics laboratory. This position works closely with Electrical, Firmware, and Mechanical Engineering teams to assemble, troubleshoot, test, and characterize electronic assemblies and prototypes.

The ideal candidate has a strong electronics background, is comfortable working with lab instrumentation, and can move seamlessly between board-level bring-up, measurement work, and lab organization. This is a mid- to advanced-level role for someone who enjoys a mix of hands-on technical work, problem solving, and maintaining a well-organized engineering environment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform board-level bring-up, debugging, and troubleshooting of electronic assemblies and prototypes.
  • Use lab equipment including digital multimeters, function generators, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and spectrum analyzers to perform measurements and characterize circuit performance.
  • Support engineering teams by assembling test setups, wiring harnesses, and small mechanical fixtures as needed.
  • Perform soldering and rework on PCB assemblies, including fine-pitch components and small signal circuitry.
  • Set up and execute tests in the photometric lab, record measurements, and produce clear, accurate test reports.
  • Organize and maintain lab inventory, including components, tools, reference hardware, and documentation.
  • Assist with prototype builds, engineering samples, and pre-production units.
  • Work closely with Electrical, Firmware, and Mechanical Engineering teams to support ongoing development and reliability activities.
  • Support general lab operations, including documentation updates, workstation organization, and continuous improvement of lab workflows.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 3–7 years of experience as an electronics technician or similar hands-on technical role.
  • Strong understanding of electronics principles, analog and digital circuitry, and board-level troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency using standard lab instrumentation (DMMs, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, function generators, power supplies).
  • Hands-on soldering and rework capability for PCB assemblies.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Familiarity with microcontroller and single-board computer platforms such as Arduino or Raspberry Pi is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Python, Java, or SCPI-based instrument control is beneficial.
  • Ability to produce clear test reports and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to build small fixtures, test setups, or wiring as needed.
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable working in a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across electrical, firmware, and mechanical disciplines.

Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation based on experience and skill.
