Job Description

Director of Operations

The Director of Operations is responsible for directing all aspects of manufacturing, scheduling and maintenance/engineering functions to maximize Company profits and customer satisfaction. The Director of Ops is responsible for achieving the business objectives of the Company within the budgetary, safety and productivity parameters established by the President and CEO.

Responsibilities

  • Champions customer care in the production plant by interacting with customers and providing technical production support during all stages of the relationship from quotation and job planning to the permanent resolution of customer quality problems.
  • In collaboration with the President and CEO, establishes an annual operating and capital budget for the manufacturing, scheduling and maintenance/engineering departments and manages all costs within these budgetary limits.
  • In collaboration with the President and CEO, establishes annual improvement goals for manufacturing key measures, utilizing Lean Manufacturing as primary driver to accomplish goals.
  • Directly responsible for maximizing profitability and driving cost out of the production and customer service process.
  • Directly responsible for operating the plant in a manner that protects the health and safety of all employees, contractors, visitors, etc. and ensures compliance with the environmental laws and regulations interpreted to be applicable by the Safety Director.
  • Interacts with customers and provides support during all stages of the relationship from quotation and job planning to resolution of customer quality problems.
  • Responsible for supporting positive working relationship with local labor union through in depth understanding of the labor contract, fair and consistent implementation of its terms and respectful and timely response to labor relations issues.
  • Completes special projects as assigned by the President and CEO.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering, Technical or Business discipline preferred
  • 10+ years of progressively more responsible positions in a manufacturing setting including experience in production, customer support, leadership, and supervisory functions
  • 3-5+ years of experience within a plant leadership capacity
  • Prior experience within a metal casting/foundry is preferred
