Job Description

We are looking for a Cyber Security Operations Manager for a long-term contract opportunity in Austin, Texas.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in overseeing the Cybersecurity Operations Center (SOC) and its 24x7 Intrusion Detection and Incident Response team.
• Support the management of a team of cybersecurity Tier 2 and Tier 3 Engineers.
• Help develop and implement security Incident Response (IR) runbooks and playbooks in accordance with security policies.
• Coordinate continuous monitoring and rapid response to cybersecurity threats.
• Ensure compliance with relevant cybersecurity regulations.
• Conduct regular security assessments.
• Leverage threat intelligence to proactively address potential risks.
• Serve as a liaison and collaborate with the CSOC tools team lead and CSOC Engineering team to enhance overall security posture.
• Work under the daily management of the Cybersecurity Operations Center Manager.
• 365 days/year – 24x7 –on call rotation
• Onsite 4 days and 1 day remote for candidates within 50 miles of downtown Austin, TX; Remote work for candidates 50 miles outside of downtown Austin, TX (local candidates will be considered first).
• Working Hours: 7 am to 5 pm CST

Required Qualifications:

• PICERL Model - Candidates Must know this inside and out (if they don't know it, they will not be considered) - PICERL Model - is a six-step incident response framework, developed by SANS, that stands for Prepare, Identify, Contain, Eradicate, Recover, and Lessons Learned, providing a structured approach to handling cybersecurity incidents.
• 8+ years of expertise overseeing Security Operations Center (SOC) operations, including 24x7 monitoring.
• 8+ years of background in managing and responding to cybersecurity incidents.
• 8+ years of knowledge in ensuring compliance with cybersecurity regulations and standards (e.g., NIST SP 800-61 Revision 3).
• 8+ years of proficiency in leveraging threat intelligence to anticipate and mitigate risks.
• 4+ years of familiarity with industry-standard detection tools and analysis techniques.
• Involvement with a standardized security suite of tools (preferred).
• Familiarity with the State of Texas Red Book for incident response, or similar ( preferred, not required ).
• Work with IT operations of a Texas State Agency (preferred).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and reporting (preferred).
