Job Description

Kelly Government Solutions is a strategic supplier and business partner to the federal government and its key suppliers. Kelly Government Solutions offers scientists the opportunity to support basic and applied research projects designed to protect our military and nation from current and emerging biological threat agents. We are seeking a Computational Biologist to provide laboratory support within a Department of Defense laboratory in Frederick, MD. Please note: this position is contingent upon contract award.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES

  • Provide laboratory and scientific support to perform computational and analytical tool development.
  • Construct high-throughput analysis pipelines for multiomics data and integrate them with in-house databases.
  • Are adept in analyzing downstream data analysis.
  • Possess a strong background in bioinformatics, statistical analysis/machine learning/deep learning concepts, and multiomics data management.
  • Utilize scripting languages (Perl, Python, R) and programming languages (Java, C++).
  • Manage large -omics data sets (genomics, proteomics) and work with databases (Oracle, MySQL).
  • Transport data between systems.
  • Run analytical workflows for standard -omics data sets.
  • Maintain analytical pipelines code and open source tools installations and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with both technical and non-technical personnel across multiple fields of expertise.
  • Generate monthly lab reports and lead manuscript publications.
  • Ensure Standard Operating Procedures and workflows are followed, tracked, and documented in accordance with applicable policies.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Masters and Bachelors in Bioinformatics or Computational Biology
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Bioinformatics Scientist or Computational Biologist.
  • Knowledge of bioinformatics programming design, modification, and implementation.
  • Knowledge of open source application and data security concepts and methods.
  • Comprehend relational databases and operating systems, and statistical/machine learning concepts.
  • Experience in Proteomics, Genomics, and High Content Imaging.
  • Are proficient with Linux/UNIX environments and next-generation sequencing open source tools such as BLAST, STAR, TopHat, CuffLinks, BWA, and GATK.
