CDL Class A Driver (with Landscaping Experience)

Job Title: Landscape Truck Driver

Location: Chicagoland and Western Suburbs – Naperville, IL 60563

Employment Type: Seasonal – Full Time (April thru November), with potential winter work for Snow Management

Pay Rate Range: $23–$27 per hour

Job Summary: We are seeking a reliable and experienced CDL Class A Driver to join our landscaping team. A valid Illinois driver’s license with a CDL Class A with air brake endorsement required. This role involves the safe and efficient operation of trucks, trailers, and a range of landscaping equipment, including sod cutters, string trimmers, blowers, rototillers, mowers, and skid steers. Candidates must have a minimum of three years of experience in DOT-regulated driving, loading/unloading of materials and equipment operation. The ideal candidate is physically capable, able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and willing to assist with hands-on landscaping tasks such as grading and material placement. A strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and operational excellence is essential.

Responsibilities:

· Operate dump trucks, trailers, and other large equipment.

· Maintain equipment and supplies assigned to the crew.

· Fuel and check vital fluids on equipment and vehicles daily.

· Operate all equipment safely and report any site issues.

· Document daily progress, material usage, and hours.

· Transport landscape materials and equipment to job sites.

· Assist with on-site landscaping tasks such as grading and material placement.

· Support snow and ice removal operations (salts, spreaders, plows, shoveling).

· Follow safe hauling practices and site logistics.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

· Valid CDL A license with air brake endorsement.

· Proven experience in landscaping and truck operation.

· Strong focus on safety and maintaining a safe work environment.

· Knowledge of horticulture, hardscape materials, and recycling programs.

· Experience with heavy equipment and large trucks.

· Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.

· Bilingual abilities are a plus.

· Must enjoy working outdoors in various weather conditions.

· Reliable transportation to/from work (commute expenses not provided).

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods.

· Ability to stoop, squat, kneel, bend, twist, and lift heavy objects.

· Must be able to work in inclement weather.
