Job Description

About Us:

We are a dynamic and fast-growing non-bank lender specializing in providing flexible capital solutions to government contractors and high-growth B2B businesses. Our relationship-driven approach and deep industry expertise allow us to fill a critical gap in the financing ecosystem, empowering small and mid-sized companies that serve federal government agencies. With a reputation for reliability, speed, and tailored structuring, we are a trusted partner in the GovCon and specialty finance markets.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Business Development Officer (BDO) to lead our efforts in the Northern Virginia region. This is a high-impact role focused on sourcing, nurturing, and closing new business opportunities through a well-developed referral network. The ideal candidate will have strong roots in the commercial finance ecosystem and a proven ability to generate lending opportunities with government contractors and B2B service providers.

You will play a key role in expanding our footprint by identifying clients in need of working capital or other specialty finance products and helping them navigate a flexible, non-bank lending process. The position is remote, but we are seeking a candidate located in Northern Virginia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, manage, and grow relationships with key referral partners, including commercial bankers, CPAs, government contracting consultants, and attorneys.
  • Identify and qualify lending opportunities with small to mid-sized government contractors and professional services firms.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to potential clients by understanding their financial challenges and offering tailored financing solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (underwriting, credit, and executive management) to deliver a high-touch, consultative lending process.
  • Represent the firm at networking events, conferences, and industry gatherings to enhance visibility and lead generation.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of prospecting activity, pipeline progression, and deal flow using CRM systems.
  • Provide market feedback and competitive intelligence to inform strategy and product development.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial lending, government contracting finance, asset-based lending, or a related specialty finance vertical.
  • Solid understanding of financial statements, credit analysis, and deal structuring.
  • Demonstrated success building a robust referral network in the Northern Virginia / DC Metro market.
  • Experience working with or selling into the government contractor ecosystem is strongly preferred.
  • Highly motivated, entrepreneurial mindset; ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or relevant professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) a plus.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive base salary plus performance-based incentives tied to origination volume and closed deals.
  • Full remote flexibility with access to office space or meeting resources as needed.
  • A collaborative, non-bureaucratic culture that values initiative, innovation, and execution.
  • Direct access to executive leadership, allowing for fast decision-making and personal growth.
  • Opportunity to build a book of business and make a visible impact at a firm recognized for excellence in GovCon finance.

Ready to Join a Firm That Moves Fast and Invests in Your Success?

We’d love to hear from you. Apply today and help us shape the future of alternative lending for government contractors.
